BJU Press produces textbooks and other materials that build your child’s thinking skills, make learning enjoyable, and help shape your child’s character. BJU Press believes that all truth is God’s truth and that all truth should be taught from God’s perspective. Therefore, BJU Press textbooks approach each subject from a thoroughly biblical viewpoint that is natural and unforced—not added as an afterthought. You will also find that all of your books build on each other to create a complete, unified learning experience. Your child will gain a sound education, and you will not waste precious time trying to adjust to different textbooks for different subjects.
Distance Learning
BJU Press Distance Learning is tailored to meet the specific needs of homeschoolers around the nation. It offers courses from K4–grade 12 in a wide range of subjects. Programming is divided by grade and subject, so you may choose specific help. BJ HomeSat offers classes by DVD.

Assistance, Not Replacement
Homeschoolers wanted to make their studies more interesting and challenging, so a BJ HomeSat lesson is not just a camera in a static classroom. It is specifically designed for this visual medium, so there’s always something to interest your child! The goal is not to replace you as a teacher but only to assist you. In K4–grade 12, the prerecorded lessons include “Mom’s Minutes” and “Teacher’s Tips” that can help you prepare for each lesson. The daily lessons are designed in a modular format, allowing you to choose which segments in a given subject you would like to use.
Consider the Cost
BJU Press has also considered the cost, attempting to make our service economical and efficient for your homeschool. For less than the cost of a child’s meal at a fast-food restaurant, you can have four channels of actual curriculum teaching beamed into your home each day ($49.99 per month). This one low cost gives you all that BJ HomeSat has to offer for your entire family. Since you decide which courses you want to follow on a daily basis, you pay the registration costs for only the courses you choose. The registration fees are course specific and range from $10 to $40 per course per year. There is no better biblically based teaching available for so little cost.
Written Materials
For the primary grades, junior high, and prerecorded high school courses, we have assembled course packets entitled “Mom’s Minutes” and “Teacher’s Tips” that give you a brief summary of each day’s lesson and the materials you and your child will need. For the secondary grade levels, we have provided the Student and Facilitator packets, giving you helpful information to assist in your child’s understanding. These packets are provided to registered customers.
Available on DVD
BJ HomeSat classes are also available to be leased on DVD. BJ HomeSat DVD elementary classes may be leased as a whole grade; secondary classes, as a grade or by subject. All DVD packages come with the textbooks essential for the class. Slide the disk into your player on your schedule. You can view your classes on a TV set, a dedicated DVD player, most computers, or many laptop computers. Go to the on-screen menu and in seconds you’re into today’s lesson. DVDs are leased for your children’s use. There is no per-child viewing fee added to our published price. DVD courses are available only as a complete grade package for elementary grades K4–grade 6 and as a complete grade package or as individual courses in grades 7–12. For children that are on a different grade level in a given subject, we allow the flexibility to move up or down no more than two grade levels for a maximum of two subjects. However, elementary students cannot move up into secondary grade levels, and secondary students cannot move down into elementary grade levels. For example, a parent could exchange Spelling 3 for Spelling 2.
