About Me

My name is Laura Markle. My husband and I have been living in warm and sunny Puerto Rico since 2006, serving in Iglesia Bautista de la Fe (Faith Baptist Church). We have three lovely children, ages 21, 18, and 13.

I began homeschooling when my oldest was in PreK, so that puts us at 17 years of homeschooling! I admit that before beginning, I was very hesitant about the effectiveness of homeschooling. I grew up in a Christian School, and I was convinced this was the best way to educate my children. That opinion quickly changed! I absolutely love teaching my children, knowing they have learned their 3 Rs and everything else from me! Since my husband and I strongly feel that our children are our best opportunity for discipleship, homeschooling is a win all around!

We always knew we'd be sending our kids back Stateside for their college years, so when choosing a curriculum, we looked for something biblically based and that at the same time  would prepare them well for the future. We've used BJU Press Homeschool for all grades and subjects, starting as parent directed, then switching to DVDs in Jr. High and High School. This year we're testing the Online waters! My children also enroll in the Academy of Home Education (AHE) once they reach High School in order to streamline electives and transcripts.

I am excited to help others effectively home school!
