About Me

I grew up in a professing Christian home, but it wasn't until I was 28 years old that I put my faith in Jesus Christ and repented of my sins! I am so thankful to the Lord for His grace and forgiveness!

I met my husband in 2009 when he was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas. In 2014, when our oldest son was 3, we moved very close to a public school; so I could easily walk him to school and back when the time came for him to attend. Well, that was the plan as we had every intention of sending him to that public school, but the Lord had other plans for our family. In 2016, we started kindergarten homeschooling our oldest son, and the very thing that I said I couldn't and wouldn't do, I was doing!

That year, we started using another curriculum, and we felt like something was missing. The next year, my friend introduced us to BJU Press Homeschool which was a great fit right from the start. I finally felt like I had all the tools I needed successfully homeschool! We are also so thankful that we found a God honoring curriculum that teaches our kids about the Lord! We've used it ever since and now our oldest son is starting 9th grade, our middle son is starting 7th grade, and our youngest daughter is starting 5th grade! We especially love the videos which we use now for all the subjects, and it's been a great help to have other teachers right in our home! Our 3 kids love it and so do we. It's like having a private school education right at home! It has been a huge lifesaver for each of us in different ways. For example, our son, who is now 15, did not enjoy writing, and in 2nd grade (which was the first year we used video lessons) he was so discouraged because he wasn't able to summarize a story. However, by the end of 2nd grade, he had improved drastically, and now he really enjoys writing poetry and short stories. Our other 2 children, who are 12 and 10, have vastly improved in areas they were struggling in as well. Our daughter is writing short stories and our middle child tells me all what what he learned in science class that day. It is such a joy seeing them get so excited over school. Each summer, they look forward to receiving their new books!

In 2019, we prayerfully made the decision for me attend Liberty University to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Accounting. I graduated in December 2024 after attending half time for 5.5 years. BJU Press Homeschool helped me teach my kids due to using the Homeschool Hub; and I was able to carefully plan out their courses all while studying for my classes at night. Before we used BJU Press Homeschool, I would be super busy spending my evenings planning out the next day's work. Now, the Hub does it for me!

The video lessons are a huge help to us. I still am needed as a teacher, but I don't need to do everything myself. I am there to help when our kids need it, but I can also go clean a bathroom or start a load of laundry while they are watching a video and getting a great education at the same time!

I am so thankful the Lord has better plans for our lives than we do. BJU Press Homeschool is exactly what we need.
