So glad to meet you!!!
Thank you for taking a few minutes to get to know me a little better. My wonderful husband, Jeremy, & I have been blessed with eight children. Our children include a two sets of twins and range in age from college graduates to toddlers.
We have been homeschooling our children using BJU Press Homeschool materials for the past 18 years. Before my children hit school age, I 'vowed' that I would never become one of 'those strange homeschoolers.' When my twin boys were in Kindergarten, we were faced with a situation which God used to tender my heart towards homeschooling. And, YES, I was terrified that I would ruin my kids education...at even the kindergarten level!
God is gracious, and I didn't 'ruin' my children  ... and now those kindergarten twins have graduated from college and are in grad school! That said, it doesn't mean that I didn't 'stress' over what was best for my children's education along our homeschool journey.
When my boys were in 2nd grade, I discovered BJU Press Homeschool materials. I LOVED the depth of education, the inclusion of multi-sensory experiences, the teaching of comprehension not just memorization, and the ease of using the teacher's editions! I also love the Biblical worldview that is taught in every subject. Two years later, we began using the BJU Press Video Courses. From the early days of HomeSat to the DVD & now the Online option, the BJU Press Homeschool Video classes have been a HUGE lifesaver for educating four children at one time! The additional teaching that the instructors bring to each of the classes add so much more than I personally have time or energy to add. (And I know that my children are receiving a solid education each and every day.)
We complete standardized testing through BJU Press Homeschool's testing service every year as well as have our oldest four enrolled in the Academy of Home Education. If you have any questions about these options, I would be glad to help any way I can.
My degree is in Occupational Therapy and have worked for over 25 years with children who have special needs (with expertise in working with children who have autism). If I could be of assistance to you in this area of homeschooling, I would be blessed to help!
My husband has been a pastor for over 25 years and is currently a Senior Pastor here in Weymouth, MA. Homeschooling while balancing all the demands of ministry as well as several moves has been such a blessing!!! (Using BJU Press Homeschool Video Courses has made that so much easier!) |
